I no longer take commissions (custom pieces) or requests, but this pricing guide can be used as a rough idea of what to expect from my pieces when they go up for sale in my etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/DragonsAndBe…

Basic Dragon, roughly 2-2.5 inches: $55 - $70
Small cute wings, simple pose. Often one prop included (gem, dice, necklace, etc.) Price goes up with details like rainbow colors, extra paint jobs, pose, and bigger wings.

Small dragon, around 1.5-2 inches: $35- $55
The images show the progression in detail and price.
Little Green Luck Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Pink Valentine Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Ruby Dice Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties  Dragon Licking Candycane by DragonsAndBeasties A pile of rainbow babies! by DragonsAndBeasties

Deluxe dragon, 3-4 inches max: $70 - $200
These dragons may have extensive paint jobs, more complex poses, and greater detail. Some examples in ascending price order:
Purple Fairy Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Hato the Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Fierce Sapphire Dice Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Smaug by DragonsAndBeasties Black and Red Dice Dragon by DragonsAndBeastiesRed Standing Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Kyrialeriss by DragonsAndBeasties  Ridayah by DragonsAndBeasties Absolam by DragonsAndBeasties Dichroic by DragonsAndBeasties

Oriental / maned dragon: $140 - $200
Placing each hair on these dragons takes an exceptional amount of time, and glazing all that hair by hand takes quite a while. Price varies depending on face detail and fluffiness of the mane.
Blue Oriental Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Chinese Dragon Candle Holder by DragonsAndBeasties Arteth by DragonsAndBeasties Dragon and bunny cake topper by DragonsAndBeasties Tokenekie by DragonsAndBeasties

Butterfly / Perched Dragon, between 3.5 and 4 inches long: $70- $90
These dragons are a bit more complex in pose, and can balance on your finger. They have a metal loop in their neck so they can be hung up as well. They are usually 65, but can go up in price with details, paint jobs and wing size.
Purple Butterfly Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Butterfly Fairy Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Green and Orange Butterfly Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Red Butterfly Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties

Dragon Couple, 4 inches max: $140 - $200
These start at 120 for about 3 inches and are 140 at the maximum 4 inches for a basic dragon couple. Making two dragons work together is more work than just a single dragon. More complicated poses and details drive price up as well. Heart-shaped tails are also extra as they are very tricky to make just right.

Rats, 1.5-2 inches: $15 -$40

Coming from a fellow artist (and someone in art school where they sorrowfully attempt to teach us these things - not that my dA gallery shows it lol) pricing artwork is very difficult.  You have to include cost of materials, what you deserve for your time (like an hourly wage), and room for profit (gotta pay the bills somehow! XD ).  It is really quite difficult to value work.  Personally, I would not be able to afford one of her creations (at least the ones I would really want) but if I could I would definitely buy one.  I think they are worth more than what she is stating here.  Additionally, with the large demand she has for these at this point in her career, they sell for significantly higher than this at auction (I am unsure of what she sells them for in her etsy shop) and her sales are nearly instantaneous on etsy.  I do not mean to lecture if that's what this sounds like.  I just think it is helpful to understand why they are expensive!  :)  Artists way too frequently undervalue their work, you should make sure you don't cheat YOURSELF out of something in a potential sale.  :)

P.s. - I do not actually know this artist personally, I just think its valuable for people in the art community to understand the importance of valuing your work!  Also, welcome to dA!

I know you don't take commissions on sculptures anymore. What about commissions on sketches? That seems like it would be less labor intensive. I ask because I love the way you draw your dragons, and I'd love to turn one of your sketches into a tattoo.
