Rainbow Oriental Dragon - Auction by DragonsAndBeasties Rainbow Oriental Dragon - Auction by DragonsAndBeasties
UP FOR AUCTION HERE: [link] Ends April 16th

I freaking love this dragon. I have long wanted to make a rainbow oriental. Every bit of him is colored clay, only the pupils are painted. I am experimenting with gradients in clay. His rainbow belly turned out so nice! Such smooth color transitions! :love:

I think I mixed around 16 or so colors to make his mane transition perfectly. It was kind of a pain in the butt, especially placing all those little hairs one at a time, but totally worth it :XD:

Commissions are closed indefinitely, but my pricing guide can be found here: [link]

QUESTIONS???
Please visit my FAQ page [link] before asking questions about techniques and materials. Just about every question I get is covered there. I’m not trying to be rude, I just get tired of answering the same questions over and over ^^;

Wow. You really have a gift for these. Only a really hardworking person(which I'm not) would be able to pull of something like this!

Gotta ask because I need to know. When doing the spike/spines. Do you start on the head and work back or on the tail and layer toward the head? I can't keep from smooching them either way I try.

How in the world do you avoid squishing the hairs, horns, spikes you have already put on? I find I have to go back and fix or redo so many of them. Managing 2 dragons a day on a good day (if I am inspired and the idea works out.)

Just lots of practice. I still bump things now and then but I've just learned how and where to hold them while I work :)

I love the colors of Sculpey III but find that it gets much too soft too quickly. Do you have any advice on how to get around this? I am getting better by studying your tutorial and staring at the photos of your work but my stuff is nowhere near as polished as yours yet.
