Blue Dice Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties Blue Dice Dragon by DragonsAndBeasties
I was showing my work at Long Beach Comic-con this past weekend, so I decided to make a bunch of dragons holding gaming dice. This greatly pleased the Dungeons and Dragons crowd, and I think they turned out really awesome. This one is now SOLD but you can see more views of him here [link]

I just want you to know that YOU are the reason I started sculpting again and I hope that one day I can be half as good at it as you >_>

Any that I make for kicks usually are attached but a lot of people get them custom made to hold their favorite dice :)

So adorable! Curious, did you use wire at all?

Nope! He is small enough he doesn't need wire support. He has a foil armature through his body though.

Oh cool. I'd never thought about using foil before. I'm still reasonably new to working with clay. heh

Foil is a great way to build the shape first then cover it in clay. Keeps it lightweight too :)

What kind of clay did you use for these? I'm guessing air drying of some sort? Seeing as the dice would melt if you tossed them in the oven. :p They are all super cute! I love your work!

Thanks! Actually I used Sculpey! The dice don't melt because the clay bakes at a pretty low temperature. Still I only bake them with the dice if it is part of their structure, like this guy!

Wow cool, I for sure thought they would melt! I really like them and would love to have one, or more, (just a matter of convincing my husband to let me, lol). I'm a past D&D player. :p

I had a lady buy a couple who didn't know what the dice even meant. She just thought they looked really awesome with the dragons lol! I'll be making some more dice dragons over the next week or two, so watch for more! Good luck with the convincing! Also, I am planning a giveaway for possibly next week where you can win something in my shop so you could potentially get one for free!

Wow, yeah they are cool even if you don't know what the dice are, lol. I remember seeing my first D&D dice set and was like.. Woah, what are those!? Lol. A giveaway huh? That's cool. :) I'll have to check in on that. Ohand btw.. my daughter (3yrs) loves your little unicorns! I think I'll get one for her, but only when she's a little older and not going to destroy it. :p

Seems the unicorns are always a hit with little girls. Whenever I do shows I put them all in a little corral and as little girls walk by they look over and come running to see the baby unicorns lol! They are pretty durable, but I think a 3 yr old would mangle it pretty efficiently ;)

Aww, cute! I can just see that, "Mom, look at the baby unicorns!" Hehe. Yeah, she does a pretty good job at destroying things, not always on purpose though. :p So for now, she is just allowed to look at the pictures of them. Hehe

The dice dragons were pretty fun. I went out and bought a bunch more dice because these guys just flew out of my shop! It is pretty fun picking a dice, and designing a dragon to match it :)
